Getting in wasn't my problem. I reviewed and interviewed with a professor and the chairperson of ComD at Pratt. It all went very well. My problem was getting my paperwork taken care of. I submitted my acceptance papers in March of 2002, and when I called to follow up, I was assured that all was well. When I arrived in Brooklyn in August, all was far from well. My immunization records were lost--actually, all my records were lost--except for a single sheet of paper that contained my old PreCollege summer program application. Admissions is the only logical culprit, since that was where my paperwork went. My advice? Follow up as much as possible. And don't ask someone if they see your records and they know they're being processed. Ask them who they are and when THEY will process them. Force it-make it their problem. And don't ever, EVER talk to the admissions receptionists. Always talk to your counselors. The receptionists only complicate matters with misinformation and lies.

i had a portfolio of about 8-10 pieces which touched on the main media like pencil, ink, pastel, acrylic and watercolor. they were mostly still lifes (still lives?) and a maybe one or two imagination pieces. all of it was representational. a mix of black and white and color. (not that it matters, but my high school's art room was tucked in the corner of the basement, you had to walk through another classroom to get to it, and it's supplies were limited). i also had good grades, which i was rewarded for, and so made up for (what i thought to be) a not very competitive portfolio.

Unfortuantely it seems that Pratt will take everyone and their grandmother these days. As stated before, money seems to be the bottom line for this administration.

Bring in whatever you have including sketchbooks. The more stuff you have, the better. It doesn't matter because as long as you haqve access to money, they will take anybody-including those with no iota of talent.
